Last but not least, Great Britain with Kevin Daly.

ApneaPassion: Euro-African 2019: special situation with non-traditional fishing compared to warmer waters and also fishing starting from the shore…how did you choose the team and please present briefly each athlete?

The British team is chosen based on the combined results of the British Championship from the previous two years. The top 20 are then invited to participate and the highest 3 ranked get a team place with the next person in the ranking being the reserve. The conditions in Denmark are not too dissimilar from our own so we have no special selection criteria. The British team for the Euro-African Championships in Denmark consists of myself (Kevin Daly), Ross Gilfillan, Jethro McCarthy and Daniel Mann.

AP: Expectations for this competition?
KD: We have a largely inexperienced team with little time to scout the area. Most important is to have a safe competition, enjoy our travels and learn from the experience.

AP: Key elements to be strong in this competition? (physical, tactical, experience in these waters..)

KD: Being comfortable with long shore dives. This competition will be a big test of endurance. Of course being able to scout and learn the area will also help.

AP: Strongest teams and athletes to look at?

There are some excellent divers from the Scandinavian countries and they will be hard to beat in their local waters. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Portuguese do very well in these conditions if they manage to spend enough time scouting the areas.
