Cressi Cherokee 60

Technical characteristics

Muzzle and elastic bands

Cressi Cherokee has a cobra head design which softens the angle of the rubbers to make them work more effectively without suffering unnecessary erosions or tensions, giving the bands the correct direction for best efficiency of the shot. Material of the muzzle is PA66 30% glass loaded Nylon. It is designed for double circular elastic bands and complete with a magnetic spear lock. This solution holds the spear once it is put in place, thanks to two magnets mounted in a watertight chamber. This characteristic guarantees maximum speed of reset without the disadvantages of conventional mechanical restraint systems.

The muzzle comes with one circular 16 mm diameter elastic band with 3.0 – 3.2 (300%- 320% depending on the length) elongation coefficient. It is possible to add a second circular elastic band. The wishbone is an articulated flat reinforces steel solution. Line passage under the muzzle is in steel and of good dimensions.

Barrel

The barrel is a 28 mm diameter tube in anticorodal aluminum. The new version of the Cressi Cherokee has an integrated shaft guide which evidently reinforces the entire structure. In addition, the inferior part of the barrel wall is thickened above 1 mm for greater toughness of the structure. The connection barrel to handle and barrel to muzzle is insured by double O-rings on both sides, for maximum air volume capacity of the barrel (compared to plugs) and so better buouancy.

Release mechanism

Release mechanism sees a stainless steel solution developed 100% in Cressi Italia. It combines stainless steel elements with exclusive self-lubricating Teflon components to minimize friction and erosion. It has an extraordinary equilibrium between trigger sensitivity and resistance to accidental shaft release even using powerful double elastic bands. The line holder is lateral and reversible (can be positioned on left or right side) and made of steel.

Two small wings positioned laterally are present to facilitate loading without interfering with the Nylon line and also to clean the line of aim from it.  The rear part the handle is complete with a good dimensions removable gun butt, available in two different lengths.

The security lever is lateral and on both sides, and even if not of big dimensions it can be definately felt by the spearo to advise him on safety set on or off.

Cressi Cherokee handle right view

The handle has a special Cressi angle for best shot precision. It also has an additional white element in synthetic rubber called rubbersoft (TPU thermoplastic rubber) positioned in the rear part, where the palm of the hand adheres to the handle. The latter is anatomical with a left and right hander simmetrical shape. In the bottom part of the handgrip a hole is present for positioning a line. Reel mount is present in front of the hilt with classic sliding solution. In the rear part the handle a well dimensioned dismountable glass loaded Nylon gun butt is present.

Shaft

The shaft is a 6 mm diameter single barb with harpoon and made of 16-4PH tempered burnished stainless steel, single barb and two weapon notches. The area of the barb has no machining for improving penetration.

Comes with

Nylon line and sleeves.

In brief

In general, the Cressi Cherokee enters the professional segment in the Cressi sling spearguns line, with 100% steel release mechanism and trigger, reinforced barrel with integrated shaft, lateral steel line release lever, speargun butt of great dimensions, handle and open muzzle (with magnetic lock) being top level solutions, always with double O-Ring sealings. Still, the Cherokee positions itself price wise in the segment below 150 €, making this product extremely interesting and, as said, with a special feeling of natural handling that Cressi spearguns seem to have included in them.
